What it does well

The app is a companion to Canon printers. The listing says you can set up the printer, print, and scan from your phone. It adds a supplies check and cloud printing.

The list of supported models is long. Inkjet lines include PIXMA, MAXIFY and imagePROGRAF families. Laser lines include imageCLASS, imageRUNNER and i-SENSYS series. Compact photo printers are covered too, with SELPHY CP900, CP910, CP1200, CP1300 and CP1500 named. The range is wide.

One small technical note: for the CP900, the listing says to use Infrastructure mode, since Ad Hoc is not supported there.

Where it falls short

The app assumes you own a Canon device. The listing says it recommends using the app with a Canon printer, and it lists excluded models under the supported series with a note that some are not covered. If your exact model is among the exceptions, the app will not help.
