Mercado Libre: Compras online

What it is

Mercado Libre is an online shopping app from the company of the same name. It sits in the Shopping category, came out on Sep 7, 2011, and was last updated on 2026-10-28. It is free to install and rated Teen. The listing text is in Spanish, so this review is based on that text.

The core offer is buying a wide range of goods in one place. The listing names supermarket items, fashion, home appliances, electronics, personal care and car accessories. It also says you can sell your own products from the same app.

What it does well

Search tools get a good share of the description. You can filter by price, location and free shipping, mark products you like to find them when they go on sale, and compare prices. The listing also says you can read the opinions of other buyers before ordering.

Payment options get specific detail. The listing mentions up to 12 installments with debit or credit cards, cash, Mercado Credito without a card, or the balance in a Mercado Pago account. It also says official online stores offer discounts.

What the ratings show

The app scores 4.8 from 27,994,067 ratings and has 500,000,000+ installs. A full 88.7% of ratings are five stars and 7.3% are four stars. Only 2.1% gave one star, 0.5% gave two and 1.4% gave three. That is a lopsided split in the app’s favor, and it comes from a large sample.

Where it falls short

The headline promise is free shipping in 24 hours, repeated several times. The listing marks it with an asterisk, but the explanation is not in the listing text. Whether you qualify, and where, is not stated.

The listing also does not name the countries it covers. The page never says whether it is one market or several. Last, the Teen rating applies, so it is not marked as a children’s app.

Who it suits

It suits Spanish-speaking shoppers who want one app for everyday purchases and who also might want to sell. Before relying on the shipping promise, check the conditions in the app for your own location.
