What it is

From the Play description

One more point the description makes: “Race Master 3D, car racing game with 500 million players worldwide”. The description says: “Race, drift, and dodge wild obstacles in this fast 3D car game that you can play anytime, anywhere”. In the developer’s words, “Keep your finger pressed down and get ready for anything in this wildly entertaining car race game, where surprises lurk around every corner”. It also states that “Easy to play, impossible to put down, the ultimate casual racing game in your pocket”.

Another line from the listing: “110 unique racing levels packed with a huge range of surfaces, traps, and obstacle courses to dodge at breakneck speed”. The listing goes on to say “Sharp turns, spinning barriers, giant ramps, and surprise hazards, every track in this 3D racing game tests your reflexes in new ways”. One more point the description makes: “Drift around corners, swerve through tunnels, and push your car to the limit on tracks you’ve never seen in any other car game”. These lines are the developer’s claims. How the game feels in your hands is something only a session will show.

Where it falls short

The listing says it contains ads and offers in-app purchases, so expect to be asked for attention or money at some point. Also, one star ratings sit at 3.4%, a modest share, though that is still 120,690 people who were unhappy enough to say so. This page is built from the Play listing, so check the screenshots and the latest reviews on the Play page before you commit time to it.

How players rate it

The average is 4.56 out of 5 from 3,502,179 ratings. Five stars account for 76.6%, four for 11.8%, three for 6.2%, two for 1.9% and one for 3.4%. That is a lopsided curve in the good direction, with the bulk of people at the top.

Count the extremes and you get 2,684,145 five star ratings and 120,690 one star ratings, a ratio near 22 to 1. The middle of the scale, two and three stars together, holds 8.1% of ratings (284,248 people). The listing shows 500,000,000+ installs, so the 3,502,179 ratings come from a slice of the people who installed it.
